Dear Times Reader,

Welcome to The New York Times. I want to take this moment to thank you for registering and introduce myself.

A bit about me: I’m an editor who works with different sections (such as Style or Sports) to publish significant, multistory projects. Previously, I was a deputy editor on the Metro desk, conceiving, assigning and editing news stories about the New York area.

At The Times, I’ve worked with reporters to uncover a variety of stories. Some of them are pieces on difficult subjects, like how the city’s elite high schools have admitted far fewer Black and Hispanic students in recent years; while others are uplifting packages, like Carnival in Winter, that tells the history of the Notting Hill Carnival, how Carnival costumes are designed, and even has an Instagram AR effect.

This past year, certain topics were on everyone’s minds: race in America, the coronavirus outbreak and the 2020 election. These stories are still ongoing, and we as journalists want to help you understand what the stories mean and how they might affect your life — whether that’s with practical tools like coronavirus case maps or detailed looks at Kamala Harris’s historic ascendancy and what it signals about our future.

And if you need a break from it all, we have plenty to offer. A couple of pieces that made a major impact on me were Ellen Barry’s riveting investigation into a family of alleged royals living in a ruined palace in Delhi, and our film critics’ discussion of why Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing” still holds up.

The easiest way to catch our journalism is on the New York Times app. If you haven’t already, tune into “The Daily” for in-depth storytelling hosted by Michael Barbaro. You can also join our virtual live events for interviews and discussions that get you closer to our journalists and help you experience our journalism in a whole new way.
