"Maa, I am going to the lower part of the valley where I will not have any mobile network. So, I will not be able to talk to you."
Little did the mother of 22-year-old Sepoy Jai Kishore Singh know that this was his last goodbye. Wives, mothers, and children of men in uniform are as resilient as those on the line of duty. They stand by and watch their beloved serve the country, battling the constant fear of only ever seeing them wrapped in the national flag one day.
While we celebrate our many freedoms, independence, and liberation on 15th August every year, is it enough? This year, why not write your letter and pay tributes to the families grieving lost ones and to the soldiers still stationed on our borders?
JK Paper and The Quint are celebrating 76 years of India's Independence by remembering those lost but not forgotten. Join us in our special initiative, #SandeshToSoldiers where you can read the last letters from the soldiers. Pay your tributes and share a note of gratitude as a sign of solidarity.
When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today. Share your #SandeshToSoldiers byclicking here.
